    About this course:
Learn how to alter a freshly thrown cylinder form on the wheel, creating dynamic surfaces and suprising textures using a variety of techniques and tools. In the course, students will be able to let their creativity run wild, experimenting with gestures and the power of the wheel to take the possibilities of your pottery to new dimensions! With the aid of an experienced tutor, students will be shown how to use these techniques on soft, freshly thrown clay forms: Faceting Fluting Texturing Stretching Deforming Slip application Students will be given the chance to try each technique out on small test cylinders before going on to experiment freely with the techniques of their choice in more thrown cylinders. This course is not for complete beginners - students will make all their own work and must already be able to centre clay and throw a simple cylinder. 7 students max. Each student will have their own wheel to work on for the duration of the course. Each student will have 1.5kg of work to be fired included in the course cost, with any additional clay weight charged at Β£3/kg. Students will be able to choose from a selection of our studio glazes and our technicians will glaze once fired. Tutor: Grace Birkett Kenrick
