About this course:

Storage jars, tea caddies, keepsake boxes... Learn to throw lidded forms on the wheel, throw lids off the hump and successfully throw to measurements to ensure good fit, and embelish your creations with expressive slip decoration. Day 1 (Wed 23rd Aug) – Throwing Day 2 (Friday 25th Aug) – Turning and decorating On Day 1 there will be demonstrations from our experienced tutor showing how to throw a pot with a gallery and lid to sit in it; and a simple pot with a flanged lid to fit. Throwing lids off the hump will be part of this first session. Students will then have a chance to practice each technique with the guidance of the tutor to create their own versions lidded vessel. On Day 2, the now leather hard lids will be ready to trim to ensure a snug fit, along with their accompanying pots, before decorating using gestural slip trailing, dipping and scraffito techniques. 7 students max. Each student will have their own potters wheel to work on for the duration of the course. Each student will have 3kg of work to be fired included in the course cost, with any additional clay weight charged at £3/kg.
